The 2016 Jack Williams Scholarship recipient is Allison Gerush.
Jack Williams is a past president of the OU Club of Dallas (1972) and long time board member. His lasting contribution to the club was his leadership and service as the chairman of the club's major fundraiser - The OU/tx Weekend for 27 years! He was also active on the club's Scholarship Committee.
The OU Club of Dallas is excited to introduce you to Allison:
Name - Allison Gerush
High School - Ursuline Academy of Dallas
OU major - Communications
After high school graduation I plan to: This summer, I am planning on continuing to work at my job at Barnes & Noble and plan to continue working there through college as well. I hope to continue serving my community as well as travelling in order to understand the world better, therefore, expanding my world view. My career plan after high school is to become a communication liaison in the digital world through marketing or public relations for companies with similar interests.
I chose to attend OU because: Although OU is an outstanding school for many reasons, OU’s culture of servitude and sense of family drew, ultimately making me decide to enroll. The Big Event, for example, showed me how OU puts the community first, encouraging those who have not had the opportunity to serve to make a difference while providing veteran volunteers the ability to keep serving. In addition to this, such an enormous sense of family is rare to find in a school, much less a state school the size of OU. These factors are unique to OU and truly set it apart from every other school in the nation.
