Membership has it's privledges. In addition to supporting future and current OU students through
scholarships, your membership entitles you to free publications, happy hours, watch parties, and much, much more.
Publications
Throught the year the Club publishes newsletters, flyers and this Web site which
highlight activities in Dallas as well as noteworthy events in Norman. They give
notification of club meetings, and events such as
The
Annual BEAT TEXAS WEEKEND,
Happy Hours,
Watch
Parties,
Academic Scholarships and
Academic
Recruiting. These
are great ways to stay informed as well as keep that Sooner Spirit! We also
provide an
e-mail newsletter for those interested in being quickly
informed of upcoming club events and activites. To be a member of this mailing
list you must be a current member of our club. For membership in the OU Club

Sooner Athletics
We schedule bus trips to some local-area football games if the interest level
is high enough, the
Annual BEAT TX WEEKEND in October, and several Coaches meetings
and
watch parties throughout the year. We also award a $2,000 scholarship to
the Athletic Department in the name of the OU/TX Player of the Game, and $3,000
for scholarships to local students who join The PRIDE. We also provide additional
funding for The Pride & OU Spirit Groups.
Academics, Scholarships & College Nights
Each year, the Club awards our $2,000/year
Jack
Williams,
Jack McKinney and
Paul
and Judi Massad Scholarships to greater Dallas/North Texas area high school
seniors who will be attending OU; this year thanks to our member's support we
were able to again increase the number; in 2003 we did an all-time high of 8,
this year we're giving 12! They are entirely funded from contributions by OU
Club of Dallas members and proceeds from the annual Beat TX Weekend.
These scholarships
are awarded on the basis of grades, ACT/SAT scores, high school and outside activities.
Additional information on these scholarships are available by calling the Scholarship
Chairman at 214/348-8652. Applications are mailed to all area Guidance Councelors
each fall; if you are interested in applying for this scholarship, the application
is available on this site.
